An International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) contingent will be visiting Kuwait next week to look into joint scientific endeavors with the country, said an official on Saturday.

The purpose of the fiveday visit is to assess the progress of planned projects with the IAEA, Kuwait's liaison officer assigned to the UN nuclear watchdog Dr. Nader AlAwadhi told KUNA.

He said that the ventures, which run the gamut from maritime and environmental to nuclear medicine camera projects, are part of efforts to step up cooperation between both sides in various fields.

Such shared endeavors are crucial to maintain solid ties with the IAEA, the Kuwaiti official went on to say, revealing that several plans are in the works, including possibly setting up a number of IAEA monitored centers in Kuwait.
