The Farwaniya police have arrested two Sri Lankans for trafficking in booze. The bootleggers were riding in a car and looked confused when they saw a police patrol car at a checkpoint in Jleeb Al-Shuyoukh. At the time of arrest both men were drunk. Police have seized from them 60 bottles of locally manufactured alcohol. Meanwhile, Customs officers at the Al-Nuwaiseeb border post have foiled an attempt by a Saudi citizen to smuggle three bottles of whisky into the country. The contraband was found hidden in trunk of the car. During interrogation the Saudi admitted to the charge and said the alcohol was for use during a fun party. The contraband and the Saudi have been referred to the concerned authorities.
