US President Donald Trump will welcome His Highness the Amir of Kuwait Sheikh Sabah AlAhmad AlJaber AlSabah to the White House on September 5 for a "working visit," the White House announced.

The White House said in a statement that His Highness the Amir "is leading a Kuwaiti delegation to the United States to discuss trade, investment, and security cooperation."

Kuwait Amir's Washington visit reflects strong, sustainable partnership - US

US Ambassador to Kuwait Lawrence Silverman said Saturday His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah AlAhmad AlJaber AlSabah's visit to Washington and meeting with President Donald Trump reflected strong and sustainable partnership between the two countries.

Silverman, in a statement on occasion of His Highness the Amir's "working visit" and meeting with Trump at the White House on September 5, said the visit would be an opportunity to exchange views over pressing regional challenges and to build on dialogue between two leaders during last year's GCCUS summit in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, as well as the Kuwaiti head of State's visit to the White House last September.

His Highness the Amir's visit, he said, would result in a number of arrangements that would further boost strategic relations and cooperation. The White House said earlier His Highness the Amir would be "leading a Kuwaiti delegation to the United States to discuss trade, investment, and security cooperation."

Silverman said bilateral cooperation achieved more security and prosperity for the two countries, citing growth in public and private investment and trade, and defense and security cooperation was growing.

The US, said the envoy, was committed to Kuwait security and the two countries have been holding joint military exercises, and exchange information to prevent terrorist acts.

He said the US shared Kuwait's concern over regional threats and the need of unity among partners to confront those threats. Silverman hoped the visit would touch upon Syria, Iraq, Yemen and Iran. "We look forward, as UN Security Council members, to make it more effecting Security Council."

The US appreciates His Highness the Amir's diplomacy to contribute to regional stability, as well as offering humanitarian aid to many parts of the world, he said.

Kuwait's humanitarian assistance, he added, "is an investment in longterm stability." Silverman said the US was looking forward for the 3rd Strategic Dialogue in Kuwait later this year, aimed at developing cooperation in defense, security, trade, investment, consular services and education.
