The State of Kuwait is forecast to witness booming tourism in light of the strategy, Vision-2035, and planned mega projects namely development of the northern region and the islands, a leading Kuwaiti official affirmed on Sunday.

The visionary strategy explicitly stipulates developing tourism as part of diversifying resources of income, said Jassem Al-Habib, the Assistant Undersecretary for Tourism Affairs at the Kuwaiti Ministry of Information, in a statement to KUNA during inauguration of the Kuwaiti pavilion at the Arab Travel Market Fair 2018. Developing the islands will transform Kuwait into a favored mecca for leisure, Al-Habib said.

These ventures will feature some $400 billion worth of investments and create 200,000 jobs, he said. The islands can be developed according to an integrated plan, he said, noting that ancient relics on some of the islands would be particularly attractive for tourists and visitors.

Private sector’s role is aspired to be at heart of this approach, he indicated further. Kuwait’s participation in the fair is intended to shed light on the development strategy and potentials Kuwait enjoy for transforming it into a commercial-tourist hub.
