Thanima organises Onathanima 2013

Onathanima 2013 organized by THANIMA, the socio-cultural group active in Kuwait flagged off successfully with a fantabulous array of flawless festivities,the most awaited and spirited TUG O'WAR competition,honoring of the pearls of different Indian schools in Kuwait who excelled in academics,extracurricular,social and other areas in the presence of a jam-packed audience whose cheers reverberated the premises of the Indian Central School.

The meeting was presided over by Raju Zacharia, the General Convener of the Onathanima, 2013. The dias was blessed with the guest of honor H.E. Delarey Van Tonder South African Ambassador to Kuwait and his wife Mrs.Sebella VanTonder whose presence added more color & grace to the function,followed by a galaxy of intellectuals headed by JohnyLukose (News Director, ManoramaVision.),M.V.Shreyams Kumar(MLA& Director of Marketing, Mathrubumi daily),Mrs.Santha Maria James (President’s award winning teacher &Principal Indian Central School).

A vibrant and colorful cultural procession marked by a galore of art-forms encapsulating the essence of India's varied culture&heritage was the hallmark of the function.  Fourteen Indian Schools nominated their best student for the prestigious ‘Pearl of the School award’, and the nominees were honored by HE The Ambassador.  Nominee from Kuwait Indian School was Ms. KeynatShahid, a Pakistani national.

Added to this there were lively sessions of music by ShaijuPallipuram and team.  VaikomVijayalakshmi, the blind singer whose voice rocked the stage and the crowd rendered melodious hit numbers.  Thanima's website was officially launched by Johnny Lukose. 

A devotional CD, by BabujiBathery (lyrics) and Mustafa Ambadi (music) was released in the function by VaikomVijayalakshmi.  Singers are Mano, Vijay Yesudas, Swetha Mohan, Sudeep Kumar, Markose, Kester, SindhuPremkumar and ShaijuPallipram

There were 18 teams for the most awaited 9thTug O' War competition for the SanceliaEver Rolling Gold Cup, wherein sports was played in the body but it was won in the mind. The competition was held in 'League Cum Knock Out' basis where the teams took part after many months of practice. Team 'Friends of Rajeesh' defeated 'Lions of Kuwait' in a neck to neck final match to lift the most prestigious SanceliaEver Rolling Gold Cup. The runner up team, Lions of Kuwait, was presented with Blue Line trophy and team Seven Star was presented with Jiju memorial ever rolling trophy for the third position.

'Friends of Kannur' team won the new trophy for the Best All-rounder Team, implemented from this year in memory of the brave Indian soldier who lost his life in the border Col. Jojan Thomas.
Vijil of friends of Kannur got the Most Promising player award for the Rajeesh memorial ever rolling trophy. The other individual prizes are as follows.

Best Back                       : Giji Thomas (Lions of Kuwait)

Best coach                     : Saji (Friends of Rajeesh)

KEA won the Roneymon memorial ever rolling trophy for women Tug O’ War. Every good thing has to come to an end but the memories live forever just that ONATHANIMA 2013 was as promising and  fabulous as it used to be, but this year it really engulfed us in it's whirlpool of happiness &fun.
