Acting Director General of Kuwait Municipality Eng Ahmad Al-Manfouhi has announced that the work team in charge of addressing the phenomenon regarding bachelors living in family residential areas will submit a detailed report in this regard to the Cabinet soon, reports Al-Seyassah daily. Al-Manfouhi made the statement when he presided over a meeting with the team on Thursday. He revealed the report will propose extension of the grace period for the team to complete its task for another six months and additional six months to achieve all of its objectives.
He added the Municipality, in cooperation with the Interior Ministry, has had a giant leap in terms of addressing the issue as evident in the decreasing number of complaints submitted by families concerning bachelors. He explained the Municipality will adopt a social communication application to receive complaints from citizens, indicating this function is currently limited to the governors and mayors. He said the Cabinet has postponed implementation of the decision to evacuate bachelors from family residential areas until the construction of labor residential cities is completed in a manner that puts into consideration the humanitarian aspect of the issue.
Meanwhile, Assistant Undersecretary for Public Security Affairs in the Interior Ministry Major General Abdul Fattah Al- Ali has presented statistics on evacuation cases in all governorates in the past six months. He affirmed the evacuation process was done in a friendly way by requesting the bachelors to leave or through legal procedures. He emphasized the importance of ensuring the marriage certificates of couples living in family residential areas are authenticated by their respective embassies and the Foreign Affairs Ministry.
He disclosed the concerned agency received 570 complaints from governors and mayors, resulting in 480 evacuation cases. He also praised the citizens and expatriates for their cooperation with the authorities. On the other hand, Deputy Director of Public Relations Department in the Municipality Abdulmohsen Aba Al-Khail said the department has launched its Twitter account, @kwtmunicipality, which gives the public a platform to file their reports about bachelors living in family residential areas.
