The Sunshine Kindergarten (TSK) in Salwa held their annual International Day celebrations last week. With nationalities ranging from British to Kuwaiti to Australian, children and teachers dressed in their national costumes, before enjoying a shared lunch of snacks from around the world. The Principal, Heather Holsgrove invited the parents to join in with the celebrations and it was a great success.
The Sunshine Kindergarten is proud to represent nearly 40 different nationalities of children in its Early Years Department and on this special day, they all had a chance to celebrate their customs and cultures by telling stories, singing songs and greeting their teachers and each other, in their own languages.
The Sunshine Kindergarten follows the Early Years Foundation Stage Curriculum of England and Wales (EYFS) and this diverse and exciting curriculum actively encourages special days such as these to be embraced and celebrated. By following this curriculum, the children are encouraged to develop a sense of value and appreciation for the world around them. This understanding increases the children’s respect and tolerance towards other people and their cultures and is a very important part of the Personal, Social and Emotional Development (PSED) of every child.
At The Sunshine Kindergarten, our wonderful children, teachers and parents had such a good time that they can’t wait for it all to happen again next year.
TSK’s programme of events continues with KG and PKG trips to the Kuwait Zoo, Health Week, Sports’ Days, Art Exhibitions to crèche picnics etc.
