THANIMA to host Onathanima 2016 and 12th National Tug O’War Championship

Onathanima 2016, the united Onam carnival of Malayalees in Kuwait, the highlight of which is the 12th National Tug O’ War championship will be held on Friday, 21 October at Indian Central School premises, Abbasiya.

The winner of most prestigious ‘Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam Pearl of Kuwait 2016’ title which THANIMA presents in collaboration with Promise Kuwait will be announced and honored at the public meeting.

This award is to recognize the academic celebrity in Kuwait who has proven their excellence in academics and extracurricular activities. Twenty students, one each from every Indian School in Kuwait who were nominated as the ‘Pearl of the School’ took part in the fierce competition. Pearl of the school awards to the best all-rounder from each Indian Schools in Kuwait also will be presented at the function. 

Indian Ambassador to Kuwait, H.E. Sunil Jain will be the chief guest of the occasion.

Tug  O’  War  champions  will  receive  cash  prizes  and  Sancelia  ever-rolling  Gold  Cup.  The First and Second   runners  up  will  be presented  with  Blue  Line  ever-rolling  Trophy and  Jiju  Memorial  ever rolling Trophy respectively.  All the winning team members will receive individual medals and certificates. Best Player will receive Col. Jojan Thomas memorial trophy.

Aji  Memorial  Ever  Rolling  Trophy  will  be  presented  to  the  fair  play  team  of  the tournament. The most promising team also will receive special trophy.

 Besides, individual  prizes  for  Best  front,  best  back,  best  coach,  best  all-rounder  and  best  captain  are  also being distributed. More than 16 teams are expected to take part in the championship.

Colorful cultural procession, march-past of the athletes, folk arts, musical fusion and more will be the highlights of the evening. An updated Directory with details of Indian Associations in Kuwait will be released in the event as well.
