TAKREEM honors Lebanese-American painter and artist Nabil Nahas

Since its inception, TAKREEM has always sought to establish a meeting platform, bringing together distinguished Arab personalities who have excelled in their respective fields in order to become a source of inspiration for Arab youth. During a gala dinner in Paris TAKREEM honored the Lebanese-American painter and artist Nabil Nahas, in recognition of his astounding work and accomplishments.

Born in Beirut and a graduate of the Louisiana State University and the University of Yale, Nahas lives and works in New York. He is known for his geometric motifs and decorative patterns inspired by the natural world. Very attached to his land of origin, he introduced recognizable Lebanese cedar, pine and olive trees in his most direct references yet to his native country. The biggest museums of the world acquired his paintings such as the Metropolitan Museum, Museum of Modern Art, Tate Modern Museum , Guggenheim Museum, Arab Museum of Modern Art to name a few.

TAKREEM 2017 Jury Board meeting was held prior to the dinner whereby the laureates have been selected then will be disclosed during the annual Awards Ceremony to be held this November.

TAKREEM 2017 Jury Board included H.E. Dr. Lakhdar Brahimi, H.E. Shaikha Hala Al Khalifa, H.E. Sheikha Paula Al Sabbah, Sheikh Saleh Al Turki, Princess Alia Tabbaa, Lady Hayat Palumbo, Carlos Ghosn, Dr. Nouha AlHegelan, Riad Al Sadik, Marc Levy, Dr. Ahmed Heikal and Samir Brikho.

Nora Joumblatt,  Raja Sidawi, Issa Abu-Issa and Dr. Akef El-Maghraby were unable to attend the board meeting, however their active participation and relevant grading were incorporated into the deliberations.
