Surmayee Sham - a musical soiree

Maurya Kala Parisar, an active association of members from Bihar and Jharkhand, organized an evening of songs featuring its own artists on Wednesday, 1 June . Aptly named Surmayee Sham – Sangeet Sandhya, the singers crooned hits from Bollywood and other contemporary Hindi music. Organized on the eve of summer vacation, the event was held to serve as a great platform for get-together and socializing.

Singers Shweta Shruti, Shipra Dutta, Pinki Sinha, Bhavya Mrinal and Abdul Hamid Nakhwa, Devesh Kumar and Rakesh Mishra regaled the audience.

Maurya Kala Parisar has been praised for bringing a very unique and great variety of events to the community in Kuwait. In the recent years, Maurya Kala Parisar has organized events like MindSpark: Dr. Rajendra  Prasad Memorial Debate, Dinkar Hindi Poetry Awards, and Maurya Manch.

Organizing Team for the event included Afroz Alam, Abhay Kashyap, Sabir Ansari, Vivek Sinha, Neeraj Ranjan,  Syed Shabih, Nitin Prabhakar,  Shweta Shruti, Mohd. Mahatabuzzaman and many others.

Announcement regarding Dinkar Poetry Awards 2016 was also made during the event. The award every year recognizes budding poets and encourages interest from children in Hindi and Urdu literature. The rules have already been sent to Indian schools, and finals will be held on 30 September.

Maurya Kala Parisar (MKP), fondly known as Maurya, is active in Kuwait since 1995. The association registered with Indian Embassy in Kuwait is dedicated to promotion of arts, culture and social service among Indian community in Kuwait. The organization gets its name from the great Maurya dynasty of Patliputra of ancient India, which had kings like Ashoka, Chandragupt and Sher Shah Suri. On its 20th anniversary celebration last January the association presented a grand show know as ‘Maurya Manch’, still fresh in the collective memory of Indian community in Kuwait.
