Sultan of Brunei arrives in Kuwait on official visit

The Sultan of Brunei Haji Hassanal Bolkiah, accompanied by an official delegation, arrived to Kuwait yesterday on a two-day official visit. Sultan Bolkiah held official talks with His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, which focused on means of boosting bilateral ties and broadening cooperation in all fields for the good of the two countries and their peoples.

H.H. the Amir also decorated the visiting Sultan of Brunei with the Mubarak Al-Kabeer Medal in appreciation of his role in boosting bilateral relations. Meanwhile, Sultan Bolkiah decorated H.H. the Amir with the Royal Family Order of the Crown of Brunei - Darjah Kerabat Mahkota Brunei, the country’s highest order. H.H. the Amir also hosted a dinner banquet in honor of Sultan Bolkiah.

Memorandums of understanding

Later, Kuwait and Brunei signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) over investment cooperation, during a ceremony held in presence of HH the Amir, Sultan Bolkiah, HH the Crown Prince Sheikh Nawaf Al- Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah and HH the Prime Minister Sheikh Jaber Al-Mubarak Al-Hamad Al-Sabah.

Deputy Prime Minister, Finance Minister and Acting Minister of Commerce and Industry Anas Al-Saleh signed the MoU with Minister of Finance and President of the Prime Minister Office Hajj Abdulrahman Ibrahim of Brunei. Bolkiah also received First Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Sheikh Sabah Khaled Al-Hamad Al-Sabah and Minister of State for Cabinet Affairs Sheikh Mohammad Abdullah Mubarak Al-Sabah.

The meeting highlighted bilateral relations and ways of bolstering them in all fields, including discussion on the latest developments in the region and international arena. The meeting was attended by Kuwait Ambassador to Brunei Dr Fahad Al-Dhefeeri, and senior high ranking foreign ministry officials. Upon arrival, Sultan Bolkiah was received by H.H. the Amir, H.H. the Crown Prince, National Assembly Speaker Marzouq Al-Ghanem, Deputy Chairman of the National Guard Sheikh Mishal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, H.H. the Prime Minister, the Foreign Minister, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Sheikh Mohammad Khaled Al-Hamad Al- Sabah, Deputy Amiri Diwan Minister Sheikh Ali Jarrah Al-Sabah, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defense Sheikh Khaled Al-Jarrah Al-Sabah, Minister Anas Al-Saleh and senior officials of State, army, police and National Guard. Minister Sheikh Mohammad Al- Abdullah was assigned as the Head of Mission of Honor to Sultan Bolkiah.

The accompanying delegation of Sultan includes a number of ministers and senior officials. Sultan Bolkiah later received at his residence Speaker Ghanem, H.H. Sheikh Jaber Al- Mubarak, H.H. Sheikh Nasser Al-Mohammad Al- Sabah and Second Vice President of the Kuwait Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCCI) Abdulwahab Al-Wazzan.
