The Council of Ministers has issued strict instructions to all ministries, government organizations and institutions to install CCTV cameras outside the buildings to ensure they are protected against harmful acts, reported a local daily.
The Council has asked the Ministry of Interior to send technical teams to carry out a comprehensive survey of all government buildings before installing the cameras to determine their location so that maximum benefits can be attained from all directions. The Council of Ministers has stressed that the cameras should be of high quality capable of capturing images 24x7.
The government institutions are required to inform the Interior Ministry about their network of surveillance cameras should there be a need to review any of them. The Undersecretary of the Ministry of Interior Lieutenant-General Suleiman Al-Fahd has written to all government agencies to begin immediately installation of these cameras upon directives issued by the Interior Minister Sheikh Mohammad Al-Khalid. Security sources said urgent steps have been taken because of the chaotic situation in the region and conflicts surrounding Kuwait, therefore the Cabinet has declared a state of alert to face any security flaws in the country. The sources added the Interior Ministry had received some reports which said vital installations in the country had been targeted and that some areas.
