Sri Lankan embassy marks country’s 69th Independence Day

To commemorate the 69th Anniversary of the Independence Day of Sri Lanka, the Ambassador of Sri Lanka to Kuwait H.E. Kandeepan Bala hosted a grand reception at the Baraka Ballroom in Crowne Plaza Hotel on Thursday, 9 February. Members of the diplomatic corps, Sri Lanka nationals, prominent businessmen and media persons attended the function. 

Speaking on the occasion Ambassador Kandeepan Bala expressed congratulations to the Kuwaiti leadership as well as expressing a solid friendship that has evolved over the years. He pointed at the growing relations in politics, commerce, culture and tourism between the two nations. The chief guest the Kuwait Minister of Public Works Eng.Abdulrahman Al-Mutawa then lit the traditional lamp to mark the beginning of the celebrations.

The evening also saw a fascinating mix of traditional Sri Lankan cuisine, dance and music that enthralled the audiences. Guests were treated to fresh coconut water as well as some tasty and delicious Sri Lankan food.

The world renowned Sri Lankan dance troupe provided an amazing performance that captivated and entertained the guests with their rendition. Dancers in elaborate and colorful costumes showcased the rich cultural traditions of Sri Lanka Members of the diplomatic corps, Sri Lanka nationals, prominent businessmen and media persons attended the function.
