In celebration of South Africa's Freedom Day, the Ambassador of the Republic of South Africa to Kuwait H.E. Mzolisa Bona hosted a reception on Monday, 25 April, 2016 at the Salwa Al Sabah Ballroom, Marina Hotel. The Assistant Foreign Minister for America Affairs H.E. Reem Al Khaled was the chief guest on the occasion. The event was attended by a large gathering of members of the diplomatic corps, dignitaries, Kuwaiti officials and South African nationals.
In an address to the attendees, the Ambassador asserted, “Our Freedom Day celebration today is an important occasion to reiterate South Africa’s commitment to the vision of a united, non-racial, democratic, non-sexist and prosperous South Africa that contributes to a better and safer Africa and a better world for all.”
Pointing out the excellent diplomatic shared between South Africa and Kuwait in fields of common interest, the Ambassador said, “We reaffirm South Africa's commitment to build strong governmental, institutional, technical and private sector partnerships that will advance the strategic objectives of our two countries National Development Plans”.
The 27 April, 1994 is remembered as the end of over 300 years of colonialism, segregation and white minority rule in South Africa, and celebrates the establishment of a new democratic government under the leadership of late President Nelson Mandela.
