Showing off trendy pink coats
January 18, 2015, 12:15 pm

When the sky looks greyer than your grandmother’s hair, it can be hard to muster the enthusiasm to wear anything other than shades of black, gray, and brown. Break the cycle of monotony with a pink coat. Because not only do you probably wear the same coat every single day, but pink is a surprisingly easy color to match. It looks great with pastels, jewel tones, primary colors, and neutrals. To get you started, we have eight very persuasive arguments as to why you should think pink.

Mixing pinks: If you're not afraid of colour, then this is a great look for you.  Sticking to the same colour, but changing up the tones is one of the easiest ways to colour block.  Take a cue from your favourite celebrities and mix bright fuchsia with bubblegum pink and a pale nude. A word of advice, if you're going to mix pinks, make sure you are anchoring your look with neutral hues like black and white.

Full feminine: pink has always been considered a 'girly' colour, so embrace it. Go all-out with an ultra-feminine look.  Take a cue from the 50's and pair a cocoon-shaped pink coat with a little black dress and a fresh blow-out.

Pink and Jeans: though you might think about the combination of pink with jeans as childish and unsophisticated, there is a modern way for the two to go together. As a mode woman, you can pair a sophisticated pink coat with classic blue jeans and pointy-toe pumps, giving the look a much more modern and grown-up reinvention. Also, if you're going to indulge in the faux fur trend, pink is a great option. It's bold and quirky, but not too weird.

Wardrobe staples: if you want to let your coat do all the talking, then keep the rest of your look simple by sticking to wardrobe staples such as white tees and black trousers.  You simply can't go wrong here. Leave a robe-style pink coat open and pile on the neutral, boyish layers. Your after work outfit will never look more put-together.

Pink and red: if you are into wearing colour, pink and red really do go so well together.  Choose a bright red if you want a sharper, eye-catching look, or go for a deeper burgundy if you would like a look that's a touch more sophisticated. When it comes to more vibrant pinks, the simpler the shape of the coat, the better.

White and wonderful: another combination that we love with pink is to wear it with white.  Any pretty lady will look like a delicious candy cotton concoction with her fluffy pink coat, set against stark whites.

Make it sporty: when you think of pink, you probably don't immediately think "sporty", but a blush-colored moto jacket paired with a sporty sweater and shirt, gives it a cool, down-town vibe.
