Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan, who is still running on the steam of his smash hit Chennai Express, doesn’t believe in resting on his laurels. Instead of going on a lush holiday with his family, Khan chose to report for duty in Dubai on Sunday morning.
According to sources, one of Bollywood’s most bankable faces landed in Dubai at 11.15am to be on the set of Happy New Year, the UAE project led by his director-friend Farah Khan. The actor will spend all of September filming the tale, which is set in Dubai.
Director Khan, who has been scouting for locations in the UAE for several months, took to twitter to express her excitement. She even posted a picture of the clapboard with Scene 1, Happy New Year, emblazoned on it, indicating that work on UAE soil had truly begun. The Mahaurat (inaugural shot) ceremony went off without a hitch.
“STARTS 2DAY !! Thank u all 4 ur good wishes n positive energy!,” Farah tweeted. According to sources, actors Deepika Padukone and Abhishek Bachchan will join the Happy New Year team by Sunday evening.
All eyes are on Happy New Year since it spells the reunion of the Shah Rukh Khan, Farah Khan and Deepika Padukone trio who gave us the 2007 reincarnation blockbuster Om Shanti Om.
Though a tight lid is being kept on the storyline of Happy New Year, rumours are rife that it’s a going to be a comedy about five men who cannot dance, a Marathi-speaking girl with incredible dancing skills (Padukone), a villain (Jackie Shroff) and a dancing competition that they all wish to participate in.
