Senegalese Embassy marks country’s Independence Day

Ambassador of the Republic of Senegal and Dean of the Diplomatic Corps H.E. Abdou Lahad Mbacke hosted a reception on his country’s Independence and National day at the Regency Hotel on 6 April. The celebrations were attended by diplomats, dignitaries and well-wishers.The Chief Guest of the evening was First Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Sheikh Sabah Khaled Al-Hamad Al-Sabah.

Speaking to media at the reception, H.E. Sheikh Sabah Al-Khaled praised the "distinguished relations" between Kuwait and Senegal. He appreciated the African country’s "honorable" support of Kuwait during the 1990-91 Iraqi occupation of Kuwait, and its contribution to the war of liberating Kuwait.

H.E. Sheikh Sabah Al-Khaled recalled that he recently visited Dakar with a Kuwait delegation and participated in a joint committee meeting on furthering bilateral relations, including on youth and sport, technical and cultural cooperation.
