Security operatives from the six governorates arrested 8,428 persons wanted by law for involvement in various cases and Residency Law violators, including 4,751 women, from Nov 15-21.
This came after the officers carried out a series of campaigns in compliance with the directive of Assistant Undersecretary for Public Security Affairs Major General Abdul-Fatah Al-Ali.
Statistical reports show that 1,381 people were arrested for Residency Law violations, absconding and evasion of arrest for civil and other cases within the Capital Governorate. The officers also arrested 1,048 people in Hawally within the same period; 1,337 in Ahmadi; 1,876 in Jahra; 2,455 in Farwaniya and 331 in Mubarak Al-Kabeer.
‘MoI fully prepared to foil drug smuggling bid’
Director of the Public Relations and Moral Guidance Department and acting Director of Security Media Department Brigadier Adel Al- Hashash at the Ministry of Interior has warned all those coming to the country against smuggling illicit items like narcotic substances.
In a press statement, Al- Hashash asserted all the concerned authorities are fully prepared to foil any smuggling attempt, in coordination with the national carrier. He said brochures will be distributed in the entry and exit points to make everyone aware of the dangerous repercussions of attempting to smuggle drugs into the country. He reiterated all the relevant authorities have been instructed to be vigilant and deal legally with anyone involved in drug smuggling.
He added the Security Media Department, in cooperation with the Drug Control General Department, will soon launch extensive awareness campaigns among youths and students on the negative impact of drugs. He asserted the citizens and expatriates play an important role by reporting suspects in order to protect the society from this poison which is the main reason behind the spread of crimes and violence.
