Saudi King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud and US President Donald Trump inaugurates the Moderation Center a world center to combat extremism.

Saudi King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud and US President Donald Trump Sunday evening inaugurated the Moderation Center, a world center to combat extremism.

The center, launched after the Islamic-US summit in Riyadh, was initiated by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to give a push to the international anti-terror efforts.

The center would research and gather information about extremist groups and the languages and accents most used by them. It would also promote religious tolerance and interfaith dialogue.

The center is one of many Saudi initiatives to counter extremism worldwide. In 2005, the Kingdom hosted an international conference to counter terrorism. In 2000, Saudi Arabia was one of the first countries to sign the international anti-terror convention.

The Kingdom has also founded a center for rehabilitation and re-integration of repenting extremists.
