On the issue of rumors circulating in the media about raising the salary ceiling from 250 to KD 450 for dependent visa, Assistant Undersecretary for Citizenship and Passports at the Ministry of Interior Sheikh Mazen Jarrah Al-Sabah said this issue needs more study, reports Al-Anba daily.

He went on to say any expatriate who earns a salary of KD 250 can still sponsor his immediate family (wife and children). He also said visit visas are given for all nationalities, but there are certain nationalities that need a thorough check before visas are issued. This, he said, is for security reasons.

In the meantime, Sheikh Mazen has ruled out that a decision will be issued to exempt the violators of residence law and give them another chance to correct their situation or give them an opportunity to return to the country, reports Al-Anba daily. He pointed out the General Department for Residence Affairs has not put forward any proposal in this regard.

He pointed out this decision is a ministerial decision and has to come from the Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Interior and acting Minister of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs Sheikh Mohammed Al-Khalid. In related news, Sheikh Mazen praised the efforts exerted by all sectors of the Ministry of Interior to arrest violators of residence and labor laws who are estimated to be about 90,000. He affirmed the campaigns to target the violators will continue non-stop and those who are arrested will be deported from the country.
