SPARK Athletic Center will be organizing the ‘2016 SPARK Marathon’ which will take place on 16 January, starting from Marina Crescent in Salmiya. Through this marathon, SPARK Athletic Center seeks to spread awareness and encourage the public to participate in the largest sporting event this New year, which in turn reinforces athletics in Kuwait.
“SPARK Marathon 2016 is a nonprofit sporting competition, and the proceedings will be donated to charity organizations participating in the race,” said Mr. Abdulmohsen Saleh Al-Babtain, Executive Director of SPARK Athletic Center
Regarding the center, Al-Babtain said, “our goal at SPARK Athletic Center is to utilize sports as a tool to evaluate the awareness level pertaining with public health, education and showcasing undiscovered talents which are capable of participating in international events.”
“SPARK Athletic Center’s main message focuses on spreading the concept of health and fitness around Kuwait,” Babtain added. “Therefore, we are organizing the 2016 SPARK Marathon as a nonprofit event which aids local and international charity organizations through its proceeds. These organizations include the UNHCR and Al-Sidra Association for Psychological Care of Cancer Patients.
Al-Babtain further pointed out that the ‘2016 SPARK Marathon’ is considered an international sporting event that can help solidify Kuwait’s position on world’s sports map and as an important career for hosting global events. With this he urged citizens and residents to participate.
‘SPARK Marathon 2016’ includes races for males and females and is divided into four main categories for both men and women. The total prizes allocated for the event reaches $100,000 making it the biggest open sporting event in Kuwait.
Other than the race, several other supporting sports activities will be held at the Burgan Bank Village.
