Inspectors from the Ministry of Commerce and Industry recently raided a factory in Sabhan and confiscated large quantities of frozen meat and other foodstuffs which appeared unfit for human consumption, reports Al-Rai daily.
According to reliable sources, the factory has permission to process fresh meat which then is supplied to major food outlets in the country such as restaurants and cooperative societies.
The team that raided the factory found all the meat used inside the factory was frozen and imported from New Zealand, India and Australia, although the factory specializes in processing local fresh meats.
It has been reported the packaging showed the meat is fresh and local produce. Samples of meat which looked unfit for human consumption have been sent the Ministry of Health laboratory.
