The cold weather and the temptation to stay in bed on a lazy Friday seemed no impact on members of Republika ng Sports sa Kuwait or RSK, as they once again swarmed the wooden courts of Kazma Sports Club in Adailiya to continue the second Week of RSKs’ 6th badminton tournament dubbed as ''2015 New Year Cup'.

With its theme of 'Be Fit and Lean in 2015!', it’s no wonder that the almost 200 participants make it a point to sweat the Friday out in a competitive on-court hardcore badminton action, but a friendly-off court family like environment which when combined spells fun and enjoyment.

In the morning division, games categories are team event plus mix doubles for level D and level C players. The afternoon games on the other hand are all doubles categories in all levels including open category players.

Aside from the above tournament categories, RSK has also introduced a non-tournament category, the “Learner’s Category” designed for enthusiasts (from 8 years old and above) who are new to the game of badminton and for those who want to improve their skills of the game. Learner’s Category aims to equip badminton enthusiasts with the necessary know-how and skills prior to joining a tournament. RSK expert badminton players who usually act as mentors are Garry Calub, Donald Briones, and Erwin Mercado.

Game highlights and ranking will be posted on the group’s website at www.republika-sports.com and in the group’s Facebook group and Facebook page. RSK’s 6th Badminton Tournament is supported by Unicare Plus ME (dealer of Dynamic Techno Medicals), Alicafe’, Filinvest International Kuwait, Conor Expres Cargo, and Mediacom Kuwait.
