November 12, 2018, 8:35 am

National Assembly Speaker Marzouq AlGhanim said Sunday that Minister of Public Works and Minister of State for Municipal Affairs Hussam AlRoumi is to form a neutral nonministerial investigative and factfinding committee.

The government has pledged bigger preparations for next Wednesday, AlGhanim told reporters, adding special committees are to be formed, as well, to complete some lacking services in some locations affected by extreme rainfall, particularly the residential city of Sabah AlAhmad.

However, some services are not, necessarily, related to damages caused by the heavy rains; they are part of completing the public services scheme of new cities, he said, reiterating the government's pledge of assigning specialized subcommittees in those cities to followup with the Cabinet's services committee.

Meanwhile, the top parliamentarian mentioned his meeting at the cemetery with the family of deceased Ahmad AlFadhli, who drowned due to heavy rains last Saturday.

He said he has listened to what they had to say and, in return, he assured them to convey their remakrs to His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah AlAhmad AlJaber AlSabah. His Highness the Amir has ordered the continuation of welfare to the bereaved family, in addition to a legitimate financial compensation, based on Islamic doctrine, for their loss.
