Where Leaders Are Made
The Toastmasters International Youth Leadership Program (YLP) is designed to provide young people, 11-17 years of age, the opportunity to develop and practice communication and leadership skills.
The standard learning agenda for the YLP includes:
• Evaluation of current speaking ability
• Leadership principles
• Presentation of speeches
• Impromptu talks
• Group evaluation
• Speech organization
• Practice in listening
• Gestures in speaking
• Voice and vocabulary
Purpose of the Program
Every young person has the potential to become a good communicator and leader, but this potential needs to be developed. The Youth Leadership six (6) sessions program enables participants to develop this potential through practical experience.
Participants learn to:
• Overcome nervousness when speaking before an audience.
• Organize and present ideas logically and convincingly.
• Listen carefully to others' ideas.
• Offer advice to help others improve their speaking and leadership skills.
• Participate in – and lead –group discussion or meetings
When, where and how much
The total 6 sessions are on the followings days: Session 1 - 10 January 2014; Session 2 - 11 January 2014; Session 3 - 18 January 2014; Session 4 - 24 January 2014 ; Session 5 - 25 January 2014 ; Session 6 - 01 February 2014. The first session will start on 10 January 2014. Timings on Friday : 9-11:30am, and Timings on Saturday: 8:30 – 11am.
Cost of the entire course is KD 35 per person, and payment must be made in full and in advance. It includes official training materials, participation certificate from toastmasters international and refreshments.
