Public Prosecution to work with diplomatic missions on deportation issues

In a meeting last week with the Attorney-General Mohammed Rashid Al-Duaij, Kuwait’s Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Sheikh Khaled Al- Jarrah Al-Sabah stressed the importance of the Public Prosecution enhancing its cooperation with the diplomatic missions in the country to resolve many of the deportation issues. Reporting the meeting with Sheikh Khaled through a press release, the Ministry of Interior pointed out that the Attorney-General heads the committee specialized in reviewing all cases of prisoners awaiting deportation.

The Interior Ministry press release added that Sheikh Khaled discussed with the Attorney-General the new regulations aimed to resolving some existing issues in the deportation prison and reducing their impact by affirming the significance of cooperating and coordinating with the Public Prosecution to achieve the desired goals.

On the issue of deportation of prisoners, the Attorney-General made clear that judicial deportation was the rule and that it would be waived only under the mandatory legal rules and regulations. He stressed that the laws are applicable to everyone equally, and that it would be enforced fully and not selectively.
