The Premier Sport Academy in association with Everton F.C. and under the sponsorship of Porsche Centre Kuwait, Behbehani Motors Company and Elite Sports Direct held their Gala Presentation Awards Ceremony at Salwa Sabah Al-Ahmed Theatre and Hall to celebrate a successful season for the year 2015-16.
Over 450 players and guests attended the celebratory gathering, including the Guest of Honour, Group Captain Finlay McLean, Defence Attaché from the British Embassy. Other notable guests during the event include Joey Hood, Deputy Chief of Mission, American Embassy Kuwait and other representatives from the German and Spanish Embassies in Kuwait.
The awards ceremony was led by Group Captain McLean and Joey Hood, Deputy Chief of the USA Embassy who distributed over 150 prestigious awards to players, coaches and sponsors who demonstrated outstanding achievements through the season. Over 120 players between the ages of 6 and 18 years were nominated by their coaches to receive awards in several categories, including: Most Outstanding, Most Improved, Most Sporting, Top Goalkeeper, Top Trainer, Star Player, Coaches Award and Centre of Excellence Team Player. The respective awards honoured the hard work, dedication, commitment, and high standards of performance and conduct of the players over the course of the season.
Further awards were given to players involved in the Girls Coaching Courses and Community Program. Surprise gifts were also distributed during the event comprising bicycles, cameras, watches, sports equipment, gift vouchers and match footballs courtesy of the award sponsors, Porsche Centre Kuwait, Behbehani Motors Company and Elite Sports Direct.
Original dug out chairs from Manchester United F.C. and a set of EPL Champions, Leicester City shirts were also auctioned during the event. The event concluded with a vote of thanks by Academy Director Mike Finn and Executive Director Baker Al-Nazer who both thanked the coaching team, sponsors and supporters for all their assistance in making the season such an enjoyable and successful one for everyone involved with the P.S.A., following which a sumptuous buffet dinner was enjoyed by all.
