Power cut eyed for ones not clearing bills: report

Ministry of Electricity and Water is planning to cut off electricity of those who fail to pay their electricity bills, reports Arab Times daily quoting reliable sources.

They revealed that the ministry is also planning to form a committee for providing fulltime workers for reading meters and carrying out the cutoff and conduction processes without depending on companies.

The sources said the ministry will start collecting paments of bills that are KD 1,500 and above, indicating about the coordination between the Consumers Affairs Department and the Emergency Department of Network Maintenance and Operations to cut off water supply for nearly 1,700 defaulters especially after the ministry facilitated the payment method, studied the insolvent cases and allowed 18-month installment payment method of the dues.
