Police are looking for an unidentified person for allegedly sneaking into the apartment of a 41-year-old Filipina in Jleeb Al- Shuyoukh, raping her under threat and stealing her iPhone 6 cell phone, reports Al-Anba daily. The woman in her complaint to the police said she was fast asleep and was awakened by some noise.
To her surprise she saw a man standing by her side armed with a knife and with his hands made a sign asking her to remain silent. He then raped her and escaped with her cell phone. Meanwhile, a Filipina has filed a complaint with the Fahaheel Police Station accusing a female compatriot of kidnapping her from Fahaheel and driving her to Fahaheel, reports a local Arabic daily.
The daily added, the woman in her complaint said the compatriot was armed with a knife. She added, when the car stopped at a red traffic light, she took the opportunity to jump out of the car and escape. The daily gave no further details.
Meanwhile the General Residency Affairs Department arrested a gang of 11 Ethiopians for operating a fake manpower office which they also used as shelter for housemaids who escaped from their sponsors. In a press statement, the department said the gang refers absconding housemaids to other sponsors for a fee ranging from KD 90 to KD 250 and issues receipts under the name of bogus recruitment offices. Acting on a tip-off, the department conducted investigations which led to the arrest of the gang, including the runaway housemaids who are involved in various cases. The investigators also found out that a number of citizens fell victim to the gang.
