Philippine R&B Prince performs in a full house concert

The theater of the American International School of Kuwait, on Friday was full of eager Filipinos who came to attend the concert of Philippine’s Rhythm and Blues Prince JR. The concert, which was produced by Al Mulla Exchange Company, showcased JR, contemporary Filipino singers, acoustic artist Robin Nievera, hiphop vocalists QYork, singer and model Mica Javier. The two day concert was attended by Philippine Ambassador to Kuwait, Renato Villa and media personality Ricky Laxa. On this occasion, Al Mulla also marked its 129 concerts production in Kuwait.

The event kicked-off with welcome remarks from Rakesh Joshi, General Manager of Al Mulla Exchange Company. In his brief remarks he extended his greetings to the Filipinos for 118th Independence Day celebration and that such event was in anticipation of the country’s celebration. Joshi also highlighted the varied services of Al Mulla Exchange including its reward system along with free insurance, on line remittance, which OFWs prefer.

The Philippine Ambassador to Kuwait, Renato Villa thanked Al Mulla for giving back to the community via such entertainment. The Philippine envoy boasted on the success of the recent presidential elections and thanked everyone.

The first artist that took the stage was Philippine balladeer’s son Robin Nievera who sang original compositions and cover version songs of Usher followed by repertoire from hiphop duo QYork. Model and singer Mica Javier sang original songs and a revival version of ‘Yakap sa Dilim’ performed originally by the APO Hiking Society. The Prince of R&B, JR had a sing along with the crowd.

Gaudencio Sillona III, who performs under the mononym Jay R, is a Filipino singer-songwriter, actor, record producer and model. In 2003, he released his debut album, Gameface, under Universal Records. The album’s ‘Bakit Pa Ba’ received numerous awards, and was certified Platinum by the Philippine Association of the Record Industry. He made his big screen debut in the 2004 feature film Happy Together, and later, released his self-titled second album in 2005. He released an all-Tagalog album early in 2010 and in 2015 he joined the ABS CBN Network.
