On the occasion of the 195th national day of Peru, the Peruvian Ambassador to Kuwait H.E. Heli Adelfo Pelaez Castro hosted a reception on Tuesday, 18 October at the Symphony style Hotel. A large gathering of members of the diplomatic corps, Kuwaiti nationals, Peruvian nationals, special invitees and media witnessed the function. A showcase of Peruvian traditional music regaled the crowd.

Speaking on the sidelines of the reception, Kuwait's acting assistant foreign minister for the two Americas' affairs Fadhel Al-Hassan affirmed the longstanding friendship between the two countries.

"Peru plays a distinguished role in its region and is an active member of the regional and international organizations notably the United Nations," he added. He emphasized Peru’s support for Kuwait's candidacy for a non-permanent seat at the UN Security Council for 2018-19.

The Kuwaiti diplomat also praised the growth of political and economic relations between the countries and commended the role of the Peruvian Ambassador in fostering friendly ties.

Al-Hassan was optimistic that even greater trade exchanges and more joint investments were possible, and invited the Peruvian businesspeople to explore Kuwait and visit the various investment opportunities.
