Everyone was shocked by the blast at the Imam Sadiq Mosque in Sawaber that claimed 27 lives and injured 222 others. “I was on my way to Mubarakiya when I heard a deafening sound and loud screams and I saw some people in blood coming from the mosque. It was terrifying. It’s like a scene in the movie, very chilling. My heart goes out to the victims of the blast,” stated Abu Fahad who owns a textile shop in Mubarakiya.
Most of the victims were rushed to the Amiri Hospital and some were taken to Mubarak Al Kabeer Hospital. “We had to rush to the blast scene and took some of the victims to the hospital. So many were injured. We’re all in shock because of the big number of casualties and to think of this happened during the Holy Month of Ramadan,” stated an EMS nurse who requested for anonymity over the phone to the Arab Times.
The netizens were also shocked and condemned the act of violence. “Kuwaitis are strong and resilient, if Saddam couldn’t break us, ISIS doesn’t stand a chance. God bless my beautiful country and keep its people safe,” stated Kathleen C. “Whoever did this barbaric act. They can’t break Kuwaiti and its people. Kuwait is one and no one can split us. This is the time to show the world our unity, Kuwaitis and expats regardless of religion or race. Kuwait is our home. Let’s pray for peace,” shared Osama R.
