The parliamentary Legal and Legislative Affairs Committee on Sunday rejected the proposal to criminalize sorcery and magic. Committee MP Mubarak Al- Harees explained the decision was based on the fact that the bill must be within the Penal Code and it should not be regarded as a separate law.
He said the Justice Ministry representatives, who attended the meeting, have agreed on the need to amend the Penal Code. He added the panel also discussed five draft bills on parliamentary elections like the steps that must be taken in case the elections coincide with Ramadan, voting process and election commission. He disclosed the panel members agreed to postpone talks on these bills until May as they need more time to study each proposal.
