A superb cultural program was organized to celebrate the 69th Independence Day of Pakistan at the Al Baraka Grand Ballroom in Crowne Plaza Hotel. The Chief Guest was Ambassador of Islamic Republic of Pakistan to Kuwait H.E. Muhammad Aslam Khan. The event, organized by the Pakistani community in collaboration with the Embassy of Pakistan, was attended by a large number of members from the Pakistani community in Kuwait.
Following recitation of the Holy Quran and playing of the national anthems of Pakistan and Kuwait, a documentary titled, ‘Making of Pakistan’ and another providing information on opportunities in Pakistan for youth, were screened. Subsequently, children from the International School of Pakistan performed two tableaus based on the songs ‘Taiz Qadam’ and ‘Tum he Pakistan ho’, and later children from Pakistan School Salmiya entertained the audience with a dance performance to the song ‘Dil dil Pakistan’.
After poetry recitations from Shaheen Ashraf Ali and Fayyaz Khan Wardag, the Chief Guest, His Excellency the Ambassador of Pakistan, addressed the gathering and then cut the ceremonial cake.
In the second half of the function, songs from the various regions of Pakistan, reflecting their vibrant culture and historical significance, were evocatively rendered by Shahid Qalandar, Ghusi Khan, Mansoor, Mohammed Amjad, Hamid and Nasir. At the end of the cultural program, certificates and tokens of appreciation were distributed to the event organizers and participants by the Ambassador.
