The Embassy of Pakistan, in collaboration with Pakistan Al Hafiz Group organized a day long Pakistani Mango Festival inside Kuwait’s largest and most modern ‘Avenues Mall’ on Friday, 12 June 2015. The event was scheduled carefully to coincide with the busiest pre-Ramadan shopping season on a weekend.

The stall, located at the heart of the mall outside the famous Carrefour Grocery store, was opened for a visit, briefing and a mango tasting from 09:00 am in the morning. The formal inauguration of the festival was done by Ambassador of Pakistan, H.E. Muhammad Aslam Khan, at 6:00 pm in the evening to attract the maximum crowd, in the presence of a large number of Kuwaiti print and electronic media, and local Pakistani ethnic media. The inauguration ceremony was attended by a large number of Kuwaiti businessmen and women, representatives of community business and professional organizations and general public.

Speaking on the occasion, the Ambassador of Pakistan highlighted the purpose and scope of the mango festival. He expressed the hope that the event would herald a new era in trade and economic relations between the two countries and lead to an appreciable increase in the import of Pakistani mangoes and other food products to Kuwait. He availed the opportunity to brief the Kuwaiti media on the full range of Pakistani products that met the criteria for import to the quality conscious Kuwaiti market.

The Ambassador congratulated the Commercial Wing of the Embassy, Al-Hafiz Group, and the community members for their dedicated efforts in organizing the event in the most professional manner.

According to a conservative estimate, over 50,000 people, including members of Pakistani community, other expatriate communities and Kuwaitis, attended the stall and evinced keen interest in Pakistani mangoes. The event representatives comprehensively briefed the public, and distributed brochures and fliers. A large number of  people tasted the different types of Pakistani mangoes put on display, including Sindhri, Chonsa, Anwar Ratol and Dosehri.

As a result of the Embassy’s efforts, Pakistani mangoes are now available at two major branches of Kuwaiti Union of Cooperative Consumer Societies (KUCCS) at Al Zahra and Farwania areas, besides Carrefour and at least 10 smaller stores across Kuwait.
