Members of the Philippine Ambulance Nurses in Kuwait (PANIK) organized its first sports festival to celebrate its 5th Anniversary. Nurses from different hospitals and stations in Kuwait joined the one day celebration and took part in different sports such as volleyball, basketball, badminton and others. The end of the day culminated with awarding of trophies, medals and gifts to the winning teams.
Participating teams included stations of Adan, Amiri-Mubarak, Jahra-Sabah, Farwaniya, Filcom, OFW Movement, Applebee’s, Indonesian Nurses Association and Al-Seef Hospital. The event began with parade of teams on the floor followed by the Philippine National Anthem.
Binhalid Damil was called to lead the prayer and PANIK President Hengie Taton delivered his opening remarks. In his brief speech, Taton acknowledged the presence of the teams and thanked the sponsors of the event. Fitness Instructor Ricky Laxa led all the participants in a 15 min pure Zumba workout followed by the latest exercise craze “Banghra” aerobics.
Vice President for Internal Affairs Kristofferson Queja led the teams to deliver the oath of sportsmanship and delivered a short speech. The warm-up exercise was followed immediately by different games held simultaneously within the Judo Hall. At the end of the day, the winning teams were; Filcom taking the third place, Adan Station in second place, Farwaniya in third place and overall winner was Amiri-Mubarak stations.
Taton thanked Western Union for their generous support, The Filipino magazine, The Morning Talk Show, members of the local media and guests who arrived to join members of PANIK in the celebration.
