Assistant Undersecretary for Cooperative Sector in the Ministry of Social Affairs and Labor Hassan Kazem says no report of price hike has been recorded in the cooperative societies since the start of the holy month of Ramadan, except for fruits and vegetables, reports Al-Seyassah daily.
In an interview, he noted the Ministry of Commerce did not violate the cooperative societies on direct purchase, and most co-op societies applied the decision.
He noted the authorized signature of violating cooperative societies will be canceled after dissolving the board of directors. He also said the authorized signatures of five cooperative societies that conducted lotteries have been revoked pending the response of Fatwa and Legislation Department.
Meanwhile, the prices of some imported commodities most likely will be increased by 10 percent after Eid Al- Fitr, says Ministry of Commerce and Industry, reports Al-Anba daily.
The daily quoting reliable sources said concerned authorities will approve the list of affected commodities after Eid holiday, as the supervisory committee intends to unify prices in all sale outlets to prevent manipulation of the new prices. In the meantime, some centers for distributing ration food are short of chicken and formula for infants, reports Al-Qabas daily.
Consumers have an aversion to the shortage of the vital commodities and concerned officials are saying that high demand for chicken lately by the restaurants and change of shifts, coupled with ‘out of order’ distribution vehicles have contributed to the crisis.
