No major violations recorded by state authorities' ministry - Al-Sabeeh

The country's supervising authorities' reports on the Ministry of Social Affairs and Labor did not record any serious violations, said Minister Hind Al-Sabeeh during the parliament interpellation session early Wednesday.

Al-Sabeeh, also Minister of State for Economic Affairs, said in her reply to the grilling motion submitted by MP Saleh Ashour that reports by the State Audit Bureau and the Civil Service Commission on the performance of her ministry did not register any serious violations.

She revealed that the ministry was notified by the audit bureau in the 2015-16 fiscal year over the extra fees paid via public funding for a care house for the youth amounting to KD 84,000, affirming this did not amount to a serious violation.

On the issue of cooperative societies, the minister indicated that any serious violations committed by board members of any cooperative entity would resulted in the dissolving of the board and the assignment of temporary chairperson until election would take place.

Al-Sabeeh also touched on the issue of public benefit societies, indicating that any of the said entities would be dissolved if serious violations were recorded and if such entities began to execute activities beyond their designated roles, the same penalty would occur.

The ministry had taken serious measures to address problems such as the abuse of foreign workforce via individuals who would bring labor on fake work visas, said Al-Sabeeh.

She added that the ministry also worked effortlessly to employee Kuwaitis within the private sectors, taking measures to ensure their rights were preserved.

The minister refuted allegations against the ministry of being behind in the state grand development plans, affirming that all measures were taken to ensure that plans and strategies were executed swiftly and efficiently.
