NSH, known for its humanitarian and welfare programs, organized a series of workshops to observe World Heart Day. Group discussions among the young staff and poster presentations on how to maintain a healthy heart took place as part of the international campaign to spread awareness about heart disease and stroke prevention. Also launched was an extensive healthy heart awareness drive.
World Heart Day has been celebrated annually since 2000 on 29 September to inform people around the globe that heart disease and stroke are the world’s leading causes of death, claiming 17.3 million lives each year.
The program explained about the evil of substance abuse such as alcohol, tobacco and improper heath habits that lead to heart diseases. From this program, the people learnt that those who lead sedentary lifestyles should find ways to protect themselves from heart disease and related issues.
Cardiovascular diseases are one of the major causes of death in the world.
Participants commented that NSH had been giving proper attention towards conducting awareness programs at workplaces. A planning meeting was held earlier by the management team led by Sabu, Vice President.
