May 31, 2017, 7:59 pm

In connection with the UNO’s ‘No Tobacco Day’, the GCC Best CSR Award winning organization, NSH conducted an awareness session for their employees and the community. The decision was taken in its board meeting chaired by its President Sabu, among those present were PV Santhosh, Abdul Rahman, Dileep Kumar, and V.G. Nair.

NSH said in a statement, it is proceeding with its strategy of medical care and health education for the community in Kuwait, with a view to advancing the health conditions of this important segment of society and improving their personal hygiene. In this regard, NSH conducted informative sessions for the community members in different places including work locations that involved theoretical and practical training in how to observe personal hygiene standards and prevent health problems, particularly the consequences of Tobacco and Smoking.

The purpose of these sessions was to raise health awareness among the beneficiaries, change their common wrong practices and reduce their morbidity rates, thereby helping increase safety and productivity that would ultimately reflect positively on the savings at large, NSH said in a statement.

A multilingual team - English, Hindi, Malayalam, Tamil, Telugu, Bengali and Odiya - to ensure clear and effective delivery of information said the health education given to community members is beneficial for both members and their work itself; they commended the efforts undertaken for the benefit of community, directing the volunteers to go on with the moral support by the Indian Embassy. The session was handled by Pani J Anthony.

NSH has urged other organizations operating in Kuwait to pursue its health education program for their members involved in their projects, as well as secure hygiene kits for them, in view of its considerable benefits for the health of workers.

Posters highlighting the dangers of consuming tobacco were displayed. The matter of pride is that several members, towards the end of the session, came forward and pledged that they would not eat tobacco and smoke anymore.

NSH Global Village Harmony (NSH GVH), a voluntary organization registered under the Indian Embassy in Kuwait is the GCC Best CSR Gold Award winner- 2017, and National Excellent CSR Award - 2016.
