Assistant Undersecretary for Traffic Affairs in the Ministry of Interior Major General Abdullah Al-Muhanna took another step of progress in coordination with the ports and offices of auto insurance to prevent expatriates from leaving the country unless they have settled fines for traffic violations, reports Al-Rai daily.

Maj Gen Al-Muhanna pointed out that booths for collecting fines are available at the airport, and there is ongoing discussion with the ports to implement the project, after completion of the system linking the sector with the General Traffic Department.

Al-Muhanna said the new conditions for applying for driving license is effective since last week, following the publication in the Official Gazette. He also said a committee was formed to monitor implementation of the ministerial decision.
