Several citizens were shocked by the manner in which some traffic officers confiscated drivers’ licenses and vehicle documents arbitrarily only to deliberately lose the documents when the persons involved are ready to settle the violations.
According to a citizen, he was shocked when a traffic officer attached to the Capital Command asked, “Where do you want me to produce the license and document?” He discovered the officer who collected it is one day present and 20 days absent when he inquired about his driver’s license and car document that the officer took from his driver in Murghab.
He was more shocked when he could not find any violation recorded against the driver after the investigation. The officer in charge simply told him, “Go and get replacement for the lost documents.” The man reported the incident to the manager, but the response was the same. The manager said, “What do you expect me to do? Make sure you don’t allow your driver to drive now.” He wondered why traffic officers from the Capital Command act this way even without issuing traffic citations against the concerned drivers. He pointed out such actions tarnish the image of the General Traffic Department.
