September 25, 2017, 12:02 pm

The United Nations has worked throughout the years to enhance the process of income distribution in world communities, and to maintain equality among peoples. UN's media center in Beirut said in a special report related to the 17th sustainable development objectives, that developing science and technology helped in lifting communities out of the extreme poverty but many still suffer from social inequality.

"75 percent of people from developing countries and small islands are the most to suffer from inequality in income distribution, the level of inequality have increased from what it was in the 90s", the report added.

The difference in income distribution affects relations among citizens of any country and how they value themselves as individuals, the report added, calling on countries to guarantee social, economic, and political merge in societies regardless of age, sex, religion, race, and ethnics.

Merging process can be achieved through implementing principle of equal opportunities, abandoning old laws and discrimination practices as well as organizing financial markets.

It can also be achieved through enhancing representation of developing countries in the decision-making process and global economic institutions, it added.

In this respect, the State of Kuwait has always supported development projects regionally and globally, therefore, it established the Kuwait Fund for Arab Economic Development as the first developmental institution in the Middle East to contribute to the development efforts of Arab and other developing countries.

The purpose of the Fund is to assist Arab and other developing countries in developing their economies by providing loans and guaranteeing technical assistance.

The goals of the 17th sustainable development plan for 2030 were adopted at the World Summit hosted by the United Nations in September 2015 in New York and officially went into force at the beginning of 2016.
