"We’re about to launch a continuous and long-term security crackdown against the violators of residency law”, says Undersecretary for Citizenship and Residency Affairs at the Ministry of Interior Major- General Sheikh Mazen Al-Jarrah, reports a local daily.

He reaffirmed that there is no place for residency law violators in the country, and called on all violators to start amending their legal status in the coming weeks.

Al-Jarrah noted all sectors of the Ministry shall participate in the campaign within a unified security plan designed to control and deport all violators of residence without hope of returning to the country. He pointed out that immigration departments currently offer facilities to all those willing to amend their status. Al-Jarrah stressed there’s no place for anyone who does not respect the country’s laws and laws of residence, thus he/she will be deported in response to lack of respect for our laws.

About the date of the proposed campaign, Major General Al-Jarrah said “we are going to set the outline of activities and the role of security sectors, and the operation will begin after completing members of the campaign and the distribution of tasks.

Al-Jarrah said the number of violators is enormous, but less than 100,000 as some claim. He added the grace period is decided by the political and security leadership and there is nothing so far in this regard.
