The Ministry of Interior said the General Directorate for Drug Control has managed to seize up to 20 million narcotic tablets, 420 kilograms of hashish and large quantities of psychotropic substances over the past eight months.
The number of cases registered during this period reached 1,031, while 1374 suspects were referred to the concerned bodies to take legal measures against them, the Ministry's Assistant Undersecretary for Criminal Security Affairs Major General Abdulhamid Al-Awadhi said in a press statement on Saturday.
