Ministry of Interior has made long term plans to curb the negative trend of begging in Ramadan or any other month, seeing that some individuals exploit the religious atmosphere to beg for alms during the Holy Month.

He disclosed that individuals found begging are mostly on dependent visas or different types of visit visas, warning the category that the ministry will pursue and deport those who continue to violate the residency law.

He called on citizens and expatriates to coordinate positively with the ministry and report any case of begging by calling hotline 112 or notify any security operative nearby or the Interior Ministry departments.

He reiterated the Public Authority for Residency Affairs has formed special teams to control the negative phenomenon through intensive inspection campaigns held in collaboration with concerned departments in the ministry alongside the Ministry of Awqaf, civil society organizations and charitable societies.
