Undersecretary of the Ministry of Health Dr. Khaled Al-Sahlawi said Friday the Ministry spares no effort in protecting against road accidents and minimizing the human damage thereof. "The Ministry follows an integrated strategy for protection against road accidents, life-saving, treatment, and rehabilitation of victims, particularly the children," he told reporters on the occasion of the Third UN Global Road Safety Week, May 4-10, 2015.
"This strategy entails the latest standards of ambulance, healthcare, emergency, intensive care and physical therapy as well as awareness about road safety," Dr. Al-Sahlawi pointed out.
The Ministry's action program prioritizes protection against road accidents, quick medical care and ensuring the children's right to safe life in the framework of the state's development plan, he went on. Dr. Al-Sahlawi noted that the State of Kuwait joined in 1991 the Convention on the Rights of the Child, adopted by the UN General Assembly on November 20, 1989. He advised parents to make sure before driving their cars that their kids used seatbelts correctly and get trained to provision of first aid, warning against using mobile phones or writing SMS while driving.
