November 23, 2018, 7:22 am

Spokesman of the Ministry of Health Dr. Ahmad Al-Shatti said Thursday the ministry maintained its emergency plans for dealing with the potential downpour.

The preparedness of the ministry is part of the tasks set by the higher contingency committee for the various state departments, he told KUNA "Minister of Health Sheikh Dr. Basel Al-Sabah, accompanied by senior officials of the ministry, have recently paid inspection tours of hospitals to make sure of the preparedness of the medical, technical and administrative teams.

"These visits gave momentum to the various sectors of the ministry in their efforts to address any future emergency," Dr. Al-Shatti noted. The minister instructed keeping alert for a new wave of torrential rains and making sure of the preparedness of the medical teams and the availability of medical supplies, he said, noting that the ministry is in contact with other state departments in this regard.

He added that the national healthcare plan envisages training courses, at least annually, for the staffers of the ministry on serving unusual numbers of patients. Dr. Al-Shatti highlighted the need of cooperation and understanding from the public, urging them to follow up the weather forecasts in the coming days and abide by the safety instructions.
