The Ministry of Health to will organize a seminar on the role of health education and awareness in combating breast cancer on Tuesday evening. The event, part of the awareness campaign "testing you means safety," is meant to promote preventive culture and encourage early detection, Chairperson of the Ministry's Information Office Dr. Ghalia Al-Mutairi said on Friday.
"The seminar will gather a number of ladies who survived this serious disease and campaigners against it," she said, noting that publications will be distributed to guide the audience to the specialized clinics and help those willing to undergo free checkups. "A small art gallery will be held as a sideline where Dr. Zainab Dashti will deliver a speech on breast cancer from an artistic perspective and the importance of voluntary action to help patients and survivors," Dr. Al-Mutairi pointed out.
A ceremony to unveil 'Diary of a Saudi woman,' authored by consultant gynecologist Dr. Samya Al-Amoudi, will be also held on the fringe of the event.
The Ministry's Information Office will organize a media campaign on the same subject, including radio and TV interviews with Dr. Al-Amoudi, director of Sheikh Mohammed Hussien Al-Amoudi Center of Excellence in Breast Cancer, she added.
