Minister of State for Cabinet Affairs Sheikh Mohammad Abdullah Al-Mubarak Al-Sabah on Tuesday reiterated the strong historical ties with Saudi Arabia. Talking to KUNA, Sheikh Mohammad Abdullah said that the existing difference with the Kingdom over the joint oilfields of Al-Khafji and Al-Wafra is merely "technical" and will be dissolved for the interests of both countries.

Saudi Arabia is the historical and strategic depth of Kuwait, he stressed, ruling out any disturbance to bilateral relations. Sheikh Mohammad Abdullah reaffirmed the deep-rooted social, cultural, economic and political ties between the two countries. He underscored that Kuwait is keen on overcoming difference or disagreements with "friendly and sister countries," especially Saudi Arabia.

Kuwait has recently formed a commission to investigate leaks of correspondence between Kuwaiti and Saudi oil ministers on the production of oil from the divided zone between the two states.
